In my opinion, you don't owe anyone anything. ![]() There are also not obvious reasons as to why people don't want to join voice. I believe anyone should feel free to choose to join it or not and no-one should be hated for not joining. I always strive for self improvement and focus solely on myself, so I believe that my own skill/awareness > any of my teammates (let's not forget that I get more free losses due to locking and playing Hanzo compared to other heroes, so I'm always ranked below what I'm worth a bit).įor the record, I never troll/throw like this and always try to have fun on my favorite hero and always play my best no matter what. by far (at least below GM rank)īoth chats distract me in general from my own performance, more in detail: my aim + game awareness takes a small dent The amount of trash talk + non-related to the game general gibberish/trying to be funny or overly positive > callouts/useful short info. My reasoning as to why I've got chats off: Lemme just drop this piece of info into this thread: I've gotten to high Masters with voice + team chat off on my Hanzo main account. Thoughts? Has anyone else made this decision on the same grounds? I feel conflicted because removing myself from comms means maybe I’m the idiot who doesn’t know what’s going on, but I do feel a huge sense of relief from not getting stressed out over all the griefing and shit talking. But I’m playing in competitive.ĭoes it make me an asshole to disabling comms, but continue playing as a true team player? Regardless of my team comp (only playing PUGs mind you…) I always do my best, but I know I’m losing out on sharing information. Lately, I’ve disabled all chat and voice functions to enjoy the game more…. Obviously in Overwatch, communicating with team members is so much more important. You just need to read the field and toss the ball where you need to get it. But people don’t really chat with one another there. In rocket league, I finally disabled the chat box entirely and the game become so much more fun for me. I’m definitely your average joe when it comes to mouse aiming, but I do pride myself on educating myself on how to best use the tool sets of my “mains” (Rein, Mercy, Ana, Orissa). ![]() ![]() When I play competitive I am almost ALWAYS support, or tank, and I feel I’m pretty good at those roles. When i talk on voice, i'm usually just calling out positions, status, etc. I do my very best, but the problem is that I CARE and I want to be a team player, so when I see people trash talking their own team mate (beit me, or any other team member) it really gets under my skin. The chat box used to be compliments on well done shots, thanks for assists, excitement for the pleasure of the game etc. In rocket league, as the game got more popular I watched the chat from the community slowly grow more toxic. But, just like rocket league, I’m so sick of hearing people blaming their own team mates, telling them how to play, and talking all kinds of shit. There’s bad apples, but I report them (slurs, racism, hate speech, etc I instantly report). Before I get too ranty, I’d like to say I think (in generalities…) the Overwatch community seems to be more welcoming than quite a few other competitive games.
